Tomorrow PSV will play against Heerenveen for the second time this season. The first time it ended in a 0-0 draw. Heerenveen currently is at the 6th place, with 20 points less than PSV. PSV misses a lot of players, Michael Reiziger (injured), Ibrahim Afellay (injured for probably a month

), John de Jong (also injured for a long time), Alcides (licence problems) and Xiang Sun (still in China). To complete the squad Koeman selected defender Dirk Marcellis from the second squad. Also Mendez and Vayrynen barely returned in time from injuries, so the midfield doesn't have too many options. That means there is a big chance Kluivert plays.
I hope PSV will be sharper than before the break, they need to be 100% against Arsenal.
I watched the 'voorbeschouwing' and Koeman was questioned about a new striker... he said "If we're getting a striker I want him to make the team better.. Not someone we have to wait for for three months to get in shape" something like that he said. I think he was talking about Kluivert... but I got the feeling he was quite positive about his functioning now....
Maybe Someone else can watch the 'voorbeschouwing' on psv.nl and tell me if he get's the same feeling about this!

He could also refering to Salas (altough a midfield player). He also needed to get in shape.......
But I think Paddy has convinced him already.

I don't think so. Even if Paddy plays divinely, Koeman must get another striker, just in case. If you want to compete to win the Champions League, you got to have a back-up striker to play 4-3-3 with.
PS. Koeman announced he was going to play with the strongest 11 players, so we'll see if he thinks Kluivert is one of them tonight!
According to PSV.Netwerk.to the line-up will be:
Gomes
Kromkamp, Alex, da Costa, Salcido
Mendez, Simons, Cocu
Farfan, Kluivert en Kone

Reasonable match by Kluivert so far. I hope for a lot more in the second half though. How long will he play then?
PSV looks quite good. A lot of possession, even before the red card. This match shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Hmm the organisation was sometimes a bit shitty... I remember Farfan and Kluivert walking in the square meter and so where Kromkamp and Mendéz sometimes...
Kluivert was just 'passable' today and he worked hard. Hopefully he'll score a goal in the second half!

taking it easy. He is just not as fit as the others and he never got good balls.

No; but perhaps he felt a bit of 'irritation' somewhere so he was taken off to don't risk anything. Thursday is already the next match against Go Ahead Eagles and then Sunday the important match against Roda JC!

we'll see what the reason was after the match. But i have to say: this is taking quite long. Mendez was also injured and is now already playing the full match, while kluivert hasnt been injured for 1,5 or 2 months and STILL he's playing just 1 half matches.

Mendez out for Culina. PSV seems to have switched a few gears down: still dominating, but no real pressure.

it's not ritme, it's how much his knee is able to resist. So he can be able to play a full match. But it is not wise to do so for the knee.

When you're 30, injuries are more difficult to cope with then when you're 21. Personally, I already accepted that fact that he have to be extra careful in the rest of his career. That's why I also think PSV should get an extra striker.

Jan 20 2007, 20:59
well i understand the knee stuff, but you see, this can't go on like this anymore. He will never be as good as he was if this continues. Don't expect PSV to sign him for another season if he only plays 45 mins per match. The risk is simply too big and it seems he is not able to cope with his injury any longer. Guys we need to 'keep it real'. His career might be ended at the end of this season.

Full-time: still 3-1. Second half quite boring, but that's what happens when PSV is in control. Decent start in 2007 though.
About Kluiverts substitution: I don't think it's such a big deal. Kluivert was not that great, he's not as fit as Koné and Farfán, and the match was already played. So bringing in an extra midfielder is a logical PSV-substitution. Also Vayrynen just returned from an injury, he needs time on the pitch too.
QUOTE

He's substituted because Koeman want to spare him for the game against Go Ahead Eagles and the game after that...
I think he'll be in for 90 minutes against Go Ahead....

Kluivert has to play against Roda JC Sunday! It could well be he will play first half only against Go Ahead Eagles and then 60 minutes against Roda JC three days later!

Kone's goal was great too, but those penalties were given quite easy.

I think it's not good to always think 'oh well, at least he didnt get injured!'.. With what other players you think that way? I am getting slightly pessimistic about his future.

With Kluivert not getting injured is the key. It's the only way to get back to his former shape. If he doesn't get injured his contract will be extebded.
If this happens it means he
has a future.
