QUOTE(Trequartista @ May 21 2008, 19:56)

Who would you say took the initiative not to continue, Kluivert, the club or more or less equally? Based on what Puel said about him, I have the feeling it might not have been impossible for Kluivert to stay.
Well I assumed it was a decision by Lille OSC, but now you made me doubt it. I read it again Puel actually said
"No, he (Kluivert) won't stay" and then continuing about where he'll go next season which makes me tend to believe actually Kluivert said 'Goodbye' to Lille.
For the Dutch, check this VI.nl translation for full understanding:
'Nee, hij zal niet blijven', maakte Puel bekend. 'Ik weet niet wat zijn bedoeling is, of hij al een beslissing heeft genomen te blijven spelen', giste Puel naar de toekomst van Oranje's topscorer aller tijden. 'Ik denk dat hij in de toekomst een goede trainer zal worden, een goede leraar.'That sounds very much like Kluivert told goodbye to Lille OSC. Remember it was a public press conference; they started talking about the subject Kluivert and first thing Puel says is "No he won't stay".
EDIT: Look! Now I'm even more convinced it was Kluivert's decision. Read the French version!
